Maintains current knowledge of trends in pre-hospital and emergency medicine.
Serves as a preceptor or mentor for new EMTs, paramedic students, and new paramedics; provides direct oversight to EMT partners.
Reports safety-related incidents promptly using the Midas/RDE system; attends all required safety trainings.
Performs job duties safely and monitors the work environment for potential safety issues.
Complies with all state/federal regulations and organizational policies relevant to job duties.
Ensures all required certifications and licenses remain valid and current.
Completes all mandatory education modules and job-specific training within required timeframes.

Wears appropriate GMT-approved uniform and PPE.

High School Diploma or GED — Required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field — Preferred
Arizona certification as a Certified Emergency Paramedic (EMCT-P) — Required
Current BLS, ALS, and PALS (AHA) certifications — Required
Valid Arizona Driver’s License with no moving violations within the past 36 months — Required
Must provide an official driving record at hire and annually 30 days before performance evaluations — Required
PHTLS or ITLS — Preferred
National Registry Paramedic (NRP) — Preferred
Must obtain and maintain all clinical competencies required by departmental leadership.
Previous experience providing patient care in a high-volume EMS system — Preferred

The Emergency Medical Care Technician – Paramedic (EMCT-P) delivers both basic and advanced life support to patients who are ill or injured in the pre-hospital environment. This role requires the ability to function independently as well as collaboratively with Paramedic or EMT partners when assessing and treating critically ill or injured patients, all while working within the designated scope of practice. The EMCT-P may provide care to patients across the lifespan—including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Responsibilities also include operating hydraulic gurneys and power lifts, driving emergency and non-emergency ambulances, and utilizing portable medical equipment necessary for patient care.
