Job Description

Medication Administration & Recordkeeping
Administers prescribed medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse or Director of Health Services, ensuring proper documentation of the drug name, dosage, time given, and patient identity on required medical records.

Safe Medication Delivery
Presents medications to residents and observes proper ingestion or application, or administers medications directly following established procedures.

Monitoring & Reporting Reactions
Obtains vital signs and observes residents for responses to medications. Prepares written reports and promptly notifies supervisory staff of unexpected reactions, such as abnormal vital signs, shortness of breath, rash, swelling, nausea, or vomiting.

Non-Administration Documentation
Records and explains any reason a prescribed medication is not administered.

Direct Resident Care
Provides hands-on care—including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assistance during exams or treatments—especially during staffing shortages. Adjusts task assignments when necessary to ensure continuity of resident care.

Medication Supply Handling
May receive and manage ordered medications or supplies, including preparing, mixing, or assembling items for administration as appropriate.

Inventory Management
May document, restock, and maintain medication and medical supply inventories within assigned areas.

Daily Resident Support & Customer Service
Ensures routine resident needs are met, such as shower schedules, snacks, special diet requirements, and cognitive support, while delivering courteous and professional service to residents, families, and internal and external partners.

Provide emergency care within scope of practice, facilitate 911 Calls, and support EMS.

Be familiar with and enforces as appropriate all facility policies.
